Julian Lim is a Malaysian filmmaker, screenwriter, and producer, and the founder of Mediatech Film Production Sdn. Bhd. He is a certified member of:
• FDAM (Film Directors Association of Malaysia)
• CFAM (Chinese Film Association of Malaysia)

As a child, Julian struggled academically but discovered his passion through comics and music. Working in comic and music stores sparked his interest in storytelling, which led him to begin his media career at Channel News Asia (Singapore) in documentaries and TV news.

He later studied directing at the International Academy of Film and Television in Belgium, where he completed his first film Crime Confidential, which went on to win multiple international film festival awards.

In 2017, Julian founded Mediatech Film Production. After years of relentless development, he completed Grab Boy 1 in 2021 refining the script through 128 versions and creating nearly 3,000 3D storyboard frames. This laid the foundation for Malaysia’s first multicultural action film universe.

By 2025, the Grab Boy Universe emerged not merely a hero story, but a grounded narrative of ordinary Malaysians who rise as peace-driven heroes. The story spans roads, oceans, skies, the moon, and the galaxy, establishing Malaysia’s first international action IP.

Through the creative journey, Julian recognized Malaysia’s unique identity a harmonious nation built by three major ethnic groups, united under one flag and guided by peace, unity, and mutual respect. Inspired by this spirit, he set out to create a cinematic tribute that would share Malaysia’s values and heroism with the world.
